I've been framing a new piece that was recently accepted in to the Third Annual Juried Print Exhibition at Artworks Trenton. I have to deliver it this week, so it's been on the work table in the studio.

Three of my new constructed collage pieces were juried into Creative Tension 2015, an exhibition at Perkins Center for the Arts. The juror was Kirsten M. Jensen, PhD, Senior Curator of Exhibitions at the James A. Michener Art Museum in Doylestown, PA. She selected all three of my entries, and gave a Juror’s Award to Bounty’s Glow. She also accepted Gray Frame / Foggy Sky, and Yellow Lights / Pink Sky. I have been entering this show for several years. I started getting accepted about 5 years ago. I’m very honored and excited to receive my first award in this show.
The exhibition will be on view through December 6 at Perkins Center for the Arts, 395 Kings Highway (Main St.), Moorestown, NJ 08057.
I'm the featured artist for September in the Quarter Sheet Challenge at Second State Press. I'm showing two of my recent constructed collages. Each month features a new artist in this on going exhibition series. The one requirement? Prints must be quarter sheet prints (15″ x 11″).
I have two monoprints in the Star Wheel Printers exhibition, MEMORIES AND METAPHORS, on view at at Holy Family University, Education and Technology Center, 9801 Frankford Ave., Philadelphia, PA. 19114. Memories and Metaphors runs from September 2, 2015 to September 29, 2015.
Please join the artists at Holy Family University for their reception on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 from 7:00 PM- 9:00 PM.
Artists use diverse print media to express individual reminiscences illustrated through unique visual symbols. Thematic interpretations throughout the exhibit demonstrate how each artist reflects upon their pasts.
Among the participating artists are: Hanna Aufschauer, Cynthia Back, Bill Brookover, Reena Brooks, Gerard DiFalco, Nicole Patrice Dul, Marie Elcin, Elaine M. Erne, Terri Fridkin, Linda Dubin Garfield, Gloria Klaiman, Phoebe Murer, Carlee Myers, Jose Ortiz, Joe Speight.
I'm pushing myself to work a bit bigger with my constructed collages. I'm aiming for a quarter sheet of printmaking paper, or 11" x 15". My new top layer is a grid of triangles that rotate as they move across the page. This creates a distictive geometric pattern. I've cut the design out of a sheet of mylar, which I'm using to make pressure prints with my proofing press. These are the first trial proofs.
Next I'll cut the triangles out of the prints, leaving a grid of triangular openings; then I'll decide what goes on the lower layer to be seen through the triangles.
Orchard Artworks in partnership with Star Wheel Printers is pleased to present Surface and Tension: A Print Show, featuring a diverse range of prints that are connected through the artists' intense investigations and explorations of their materials. Whether connecting to the physical world or displaying an interest in abstraction, each artist exhibits a unique and exciting use of print media.
